Rafael Eitan, chief of staff and minister of agriculture and environment, said some years later: "Israel must hold on to the West Bank to make sure that Tel Aviv's taps don't run dry."

Current Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu said in 1998: "And when I talk about the importance to Israel's security... It means that a housewife in Tel Aviv can open the tap and there's water running to it, and it's not been dried up because of a rash decision that handed over control of our aquifers to the wrong hands."

Detained by police on a charge he described as “flying while Muslim”, the hero of Zarqa Nawaz’s hit sitcom Little Mosque on the Prairie (2007) made things worse for himself in the first episode by joking. “Muslims around the world are known for their sense of humour,” he deadpanned. By poking a little affectionate fun at both the daily dilemmas of modern Muslims and stereotypical Western perceptions of them, Nawaz made gentle strides towards demystifying her community. Some critics predicted the show would do for North American Muslims what The Cosby Show had done for African Americans in the Eighties.

The Promised Messiah said that as time goes on people will accept his interpretation of Islam, regardless of whether they accept him as the Messiah and Mehdi or not.

In the last few weeks we have seen that the most orthodox Sunni leaders, religious and secular, have accepted the Ahmadi interpretations in two areas.

The first is divorce. . . . The second reform is related to rape-law. 

These incident prove the truth of what Hazrat Mirza Ghulam Ahmad said and quoted above.

In an essay published October 3, 2014 in the French newspaper Marianne, French Muslim philosopher Abdennour Bidar, wrote that';

Muslims cannot make do with denouncing and repudiating terrorist barbarism, but must acknowledge that its roots lie within Muslim society, and especially within the Islam that is prevalent in the Arab world today.

He points out that Islam, like all religions, has throughout its history been a source of much good, wisdom and enlightenment, but that today's mainstream Islam rejects the freedom and flexibility that are advocated by the Koran and instead promotes rigidity and regression that ultimately give rise to terrorism.

The Muslim world, he concludes, must therefore reform itself, and especially its education systems, based on principles of freedom of religion and thought, equality, and respect for the other.

Let us also look at ourselves.

Hazrat Mirza Ghulam Ahmad proposed a peace pact between Hindus and Muslims in his booklet Paigham i Sulah but neither community paid much attention to it. Now, after years of killings, they have done exactly what he said a 125 years ago.

Religious communities of the picturesque village of Burondi in Ratnagiri district have inked a pact to protect 'communal harmony' for the next 100 years in Maharashtra, representatives said here Monday.

The pact was formally signed last month by leaders of the local Hindu and Muslim community along with witnesses, duly notarized, and copies were provided to all stakeholders, in the presence of a large number of villagers.

Muslims again follow the Promised Messiah but after much delay.
